A children’s book focused on educating kids on what insects are poisonous, how to avoid them and what to do if you get stung/bitten.

The book will be very visual using images of the bug, territory maps and graphic indicators for how serious a bite/sting is.

How to Identify Poisonous Bugs

There is no simple way to identify all poisonous bugs but some bugs make it obvious. Take the Tarantula Wasp as an example. One look at that stinger and you know this is one bug you should stay away from.

The Asian Ladybug was imported to America and sold to farmers and gardeners because Asian Ladybugs love to eat aphids. And, aphids are a real problem for farmers and gardeners. It turns out, the ladybugs were too effective and thrived here in America. They can now be found throughout the United States.

What To Do If You Get Stung or Bitten

Asian Ladybugs bite. It doesn’t hurt a lot compared to other insect bites, and the pain will usually go away quickly. However, you should watch the bite to make sure that you are not allergic. If it gets worse and not better, then you should see a doctor.

      • Bill has attended all of the national conferences on edible insects and has the opportunity to participate in future conferences. These are great opportunities to sell books. There are a lot of educators at these conferences that may also use the book for their classes which further promotes the book.

      • Bill understands PR. He has been interviewed over 100 times by national media. Below is an older graphic showing the PR Entosense has received. Missing are more recent outlets such as Smithsonian, USA Today, Business Week and more.
    • Reptile Expos
      • There are a number of reptile expos across the country that attract large numbers of people. Bill can attend some of these shows but may also be able to get people he knows to sell the book at shows.
    • Speaking Engagements
      • Due to demand, Entosense has considered hiring someone just to be a presenter for schools and organizations that request it. So far, the focus has been local but the requests are nationwide. If a book were part of the presentation, it would make this a more lucrative approach.
    • Podcasts
      • Bill has considered doing a series of podcasts in his current position because he’s able to get a number of industry leaders, inducing scientists and educators, to take part. The book and book excerpts could be included in the podcasts.

ABOUT BILL BROADBENT

Bill is a seasoned entrepreneur with a track record of success. He began in the apparel industry printing t-shirts for rock bands in the late 70’s. By the mid 80’s and in to the 90’s, Bill was producing licensed apparel for major retail accounts nationwide. These accounts ranged from Macy’s and Bloomingdales to K-Mart and Walmart.

In 1997, he started T-ShirtKing.com which quickly grew to become a top 100 retailer on Amazon.com and won Internet Retailer Magazine’s Top 50 eCommerce Sites in 2003 next to industry giants like LL Bean, Gap and Zappos.

Susan had an enjoyable childhood and became adventurous as a teenager, traveling the United States and working at a variety of jobs, including a maid in Alaska, a dishwasher in New Mexico and a cocktail waitress in Las Vegas.

After sowing her oats, Susan attended Syracuse University, the top illustration school in the country, where she graduated with honors and earned a BFA.
Susan worked as a designer in Manhattan before moving to New Mexico where she began her freelance career. National Wildlife Federation, Touchstone Pictures, Discovery Stores, Gorilla Foundation and Conde Nast are some of the clients Susan has worked with.

Susan moved to Maine in 1999. Spotting an early trend, Susan and her brother Bill began their edible insect business, Entosense in 2015. Her drive and creative talent has pointed Entosense in a direction that gets noticed.
